Recently, the "Listening to Song Dynasty" series of lectures was continued at the South Hall of the Tianyi Bookstore. Mr. Zhou Qin, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Humanities, Soochow University, chief expert at the China Kunqu Opera Research Center, and chief reciter of Bai Xianyong's youth version of "The Peony Pavilion", returned to the lakeside and traveled with the audience through a thousand years, entering the millennium city of Luo in the Song Dynasty Poetry.
In the past two years, the Tianyi Pavilion · Moon Lake Scenic Area has twice invited Zhou Qin to visit the Moon Lake and compose three Kunqu songs, namely "Moshan Creek", "Night Flowers", and "Welcoming Immortals". "This spring, the new song 'Magnolia' has been released, and Professor Zhou Qin is invited to return to the Moon Lake again to enjoy the new sound of Song Dynasty Poetry with citizens and tourists, and to cultivate the cultural heart of the city with the elegant charm of Kunqu," said the person in charge of the Tianyi Pavilion · Moon Lake Scenic Area Management Office.
Zhou Qin recounted the story of composing music for Song Dynasty poems on the Moon Lake over the past three years. From searching for the most suitable melody through the music score to personally recording them on the flute, the four Song Dynasty poems were sung in the form of Kunqu Opera, restoring their most ancient charm and expressing the elegant and humanistic style of the thousands of years of famous elites on the lake.
Zhou Qin's beautiful and gentle singing style, as well as his diligent and patient teaching, injected fresh life into ancient poetry. On site, under the guidance of Zhou Qin, everyone learned the entire song "Magnolia Flower · Jiang Garden's Chant" word by word and sentence by sentence, from pronunciation to tone, and from recitation to singing.
The person in charge of the Tianyi Pavilion · Moon Lake Scenic Area Management Office said that in the future, the scenic area will continue to explore the development path of diversified integration and multi-directional empowerment of traditional culture, launch more characteristic cultural activities that benefit and entertain the people, and help protect and revitalize this ancient city.
