Upgrading and renovating street lights to beautify the city and for energy saving

On May 11, on the Jichang Road, the lighting installation personnel of the Municipal Facilities Maintenance Center in the Haishu District were getting on a high-altitude vehicle, raising the street lamp arm and replacing with brand new LED energy-saving lights.


The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Facilities Maintenance Center in the Haishu District introduced that the original street lights used high-pressure sodium lamps and metal halide lamps, which not only consumed electricity but also had unsatisfactory nighttime lighting effects. As the Asian Games approaches, in order to ensure the stable operation of lighting facilities in the district and create a new look of municipal facilities featured by smooth roads, bright lights and smooth bridges, the center has upgraded and renovated more than 5,800 street lights on 111 roads in the entire district, upgrading the old street lights into LED energy-saving ones, boasting the characteristics of environmental protection, energy conservation, high light efficiency, and long lifespan as compared to traditional sodium lamps, thus having improved the lighting effect. As of now, the lighting energy-saving renovation projects for multiple roads such as the Yaohang Street and the Kaiming Street and so on have been completed, and the projects are planned to be fully completed and put into use by the end of June.



It is worth mentioning that after all LED energy-saving lights are "on duty", the district's smart lighting application platform will also be launched simultaneously. It is learnt that this platform is a resource management, energy consumption management, and operation monitoring system that connects urban lighting facilities, established by using advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, spatial geographic information, and wireless communication, etc.. The smart lighting application platform can real-time grasp the operating status, realize remote control, achieve on-demand lighting, efficient energy conservation, and fine management, providing strong support for achieving intelligent empowerment of municipal services.
