As the core area of Ningbo being a historic and cultural city, Haishu boasts a profound historical heritage and rich cultural relics. At present, there are 117 cultural relics and buildings within the scope of Luocheng, and more than 20 museums, exhibition halls, and celebrity halls have been built. As was once praised: "Haishu is like a walkable museum without walls."
Although Haishu has many advantages and basic conditions, how to empower urban development with "cultural exposition plus" has become a new issue faced by Haishu. Solving problems starts with getting started. In the view of Jin Peng, Secretary General of the China Cultural Industry Association, the concept of urban cultural exposition area is very innovative. "Cultural exposition and cultural tourism have become hot words at present. Ningbo, especially Haishu, proposes the concept of urban cultural exposition area actually highlights the characteristics of the coexistence and development of a city and of cultural exposition areas." He believes that the relationship between the cultural exposition area being a spatial carrier and the cultural industry is more like that between the "water and boat". When building an urban cultural exposition area, Haishu should firstly consider IP and traffic carriers, both online and offline.
"The situation that 1,000 people come and each of them spend1 yuan is different from that 2 people come and each of them spend 500 yuan though it seems to have the same impact on local income, but the underlying value of thinking is different. Zhang Zheng, an associate professor appointed by the Tsinghua University, Vice President of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University and a doctoral advisor, believes that it is very important to build an urban cultural exposition area and establish a value mindset for local residents and foreign tourists. "The mindset of transforming the common urban scenes of the local people into urban commodities, and transforming tourists' taking perfect WeChat Moments snaps into actual consumption is exactly what we need."
Chen Hao, the chief expert and former director of the Zhejiang Provincial Museum, proposed the positioning of "rooting in Haishu, interacting with Ningbo, connecting with the area south of the Yangtze River Delta, and benchmarking with the world" based on the actual situation of Haishu. "Our ultimate goal in building an urban cultural exposition area is to further improve the quality of life of the people in Haishu, while allowing foreign tourists to better understand the history and culture of Haishu." He pointed out that in the process of building the urban cultural exposition area in Haishu, it is necessary to include elements related to people's daily life and local residents, so as to form a vitality and create the most authentic "community museum" at the doorstep.
Onsite, the Haishu Urban Cultural Exposition Area Think Tank was officially established, with the first batch of 7 experts and scholars who are enthusiastic about cultural exposition undertakings providing advices and suggestions for accelerating the construction of the urban cultural exposition area in Haishu.
